WordCamp San Antonio Speakers Confirmed

We love it when a plan comes together. WordCamp San Antonio planning continues to progress as we get closer to event day. After a lot of pitching, reading, voting, emailing, and arranging, we are very happy to announce that all the WordCamp San Antonio speakers are now confirmed!

The event will consist of three concurrent tracks, with seven sessions each for a total of 21 awesome speakers. They’ll be covering beginner to advanced topics, ranging from blogging and content creation basics, to troubleshooting WordPress, to actually building a WordPress theme, and a whole lot more fantastic stuff in between. Whether you’re a blogger or a developer, you’ll find something great and learn a lot at WordCamp San Antonio.

A few speakers are coming in from out of town, and representing companies such as Automattic (the company that runs WordPress), WP Engine, and HostGator.

We’re also thrilled to have several local speakers and business owners sharing their knowledge of WordPress and all kinds of digital business and marketing. You’ll be able to hear speakers from local companies such as Rackspace, Domino Connection, WordPress Development Solutions, Passion Fruit Creative Group, and Firecat Studio.

But don’t just take our word for how great this event and all the speakers are going to be. Check out the WordCamp San Antonio schedule to see who’s confirmed, and what they’ll be covering so you can start planning which sessions you want to attend.

Once you’ve figured that out, all that’s left for you to do is buy WordCamp San Antonio tickets! Fewer than 100 tickets remain, and we’re pretty sure that once everyone sees who’s speaking and all the great information that’s going to be shared, tickets will start going fast, so don’t miss out!

We’re looking forward to seeing you at San Antonio’s first WordCamp. Get your tickets, mark your calendars, and subscribe below to stay informed of new announcements. See you soon!

CloudU is WordCamp San Antonio’s Second Premier Sponsor

We no sooner landed our first premier sponsor than Rackspace Cloud U stepped up to become the second! This is especially exciting as Rackspace is based right here in San Antonio, and its CloudU program is of great benefit to the local community.

Rackspace Cloud University, known as CloudU™, is a vendor-neutral, cloud education program designed by Rackspace and the brightest minds in academia and the cloud industry. The program is intended for students, IT professionals, and business decision makers who want to learn about cloud, web hosting, big data, and soon WordPress on Cloud Sites. Best of all its free!

Every sponsor is important in helping us plan WordCamp San Antonio and make it a success for all involved, the Premier sponsorship level even more so, as it provides the highest level of financial support. This enables us to further secure important needs for event day—the venue, the food, and the many details that go into putting together an event like this.

Premier sponsors also get a lot out of it, so it’s an all-around win!

If you attend WordCamp San Antonio, you’ll be able to find the CloudU team inside the hub (along with our first Premier sponsor), an area of TriPoint where you’ll be able to sit, relax, and network, charge your phone, laptop, and other devices, and find out more about the free educational program CloudU offers.

We’re grateful to Rackspace CloudU for pitching in to help ensure the first-ever WordCamp San Antonio is a homerun.

WP Engine is WordCamp San Antonio’s First Premier Sponsor

We are excited and honored to announce that WordPress hosting platform provider, WP Engine, has come on board as our first Premier sponsor!

Of the many sponsorship levels available, Premier is the highest. It not only offers the sponsor several benefits, but provides WordCamp San Antonio with much-needed financial support so we can continue planning the event. The Premier sponsorship puts us much closer to being able to put on a great event for the expected 200 attendees.

While WordPress is an open-source platform that offers a free option, it’s also a powerful platform that many large companies use for their websites. WP Engine provides managed hosting options to such companies, including Buffer, Constant Contact, and Foursquare, to name just a few.

If you attend WordCamp San Antonio, you’ll be able to find the WP Engine team inside the hub, an area of TriPoint where you’ll be able to sit, relax, and network, charge your phone, laptop, and other devices, and find out more about the services WP Engine has to offer.

WP Engine is also a regular supporter of the San Antonio WordPress Meetup Group, which is the main group responsible for bringing WordCamp to the city, and for organizing the event.

Big thanks to WP Engine not only for supporting WordCamp San Antonio, but the local WordPress community as a whole. We appreciate it!

WordPress Contributor Day

One of the most amazing aspects of WordPress is the community at its core! If you’d like to be a part of giving back to that community – Contributor Day is a perfect moment to learn how to be a part of that awesomeness.

Whether you’re a designer, developer, systems or support specialist, or writer, there’s a way for you to contribute:

  • If you’re a programmer, contribute code directly to core!*
  • Write or update WordPress documentation and tutorials
  • Create visual mockups of new features, or those being modified
  • Help out with your knowledge of accessibility or other relevant standards
  • Mobile developer? Help out with the apps!
  • Answer questions on the forums and help other users or people who are new to WordPress
  • Work on the WordPress.org website itself, including the plugin and theme repositories

People who come to Contributor Day will be 100% focused on contributing to or learning to contribute to the WordPress project — although we have fun, this is a working event. If you’ve been looking for an opening to add your contribution to WordPress, this is the perfect opportunity!
We’ll make sure the WiFi stays strong (and the snacks plentiful), you make sure WordPress stays strong.

Attendance is free but we do have limited space (max 40 attendees). Please let us know ahead of time if you’ll be coming — we can’t guarantee that there will be spots left on the weekend of the event.
